In today’s society, specifically Los Angeles County’s inner-city communities, the negative impact, and problems that occur as a result of youth “aging out” of the Foster Care system without proper life skills can be dire. Los Angeles County is the largest County in the nation with nearly 10 million residents. According to the Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) 2015-2016 Biennial Report, there are 35,000 children that receive services on a monthly basis. Of this number, 18,000 children were in foster care in Los Angeles County during this time frame.
Lift Career Resource Center was created to assist young people aging out of foster care by providing them with the skills necessary to live productive and fulfilling lives.
